The short version

Exersio has no account, no server, no advertising and no tracking. Your data stays on your devices — your iPhone, and your Apple Watch if you have one. We never receive it.

Apple Health

With your permission, Exersio reads from Apple Health:

  • your workouts, with their routes, heart rate, distance and calories;
  • the daily figures you choose to track — such as weight, sleep, steps, food and water, body measurements, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability or VO₂ max;
  • your date of birth and height, to show in your profile's settings.

It saves back to Health the figures you log in the app (weight, food, water, sleep and the like) and the workouts you record, with their routes.

When you set up the app you can allow everything at once, or choose item by item. You can change this at any time in the Health app (your picture › Apps › Exersio) or in the app under your profile › Health & Tracking. If something Exersio uses is switched off, the app tells you which, so you know why a chart is empty.

Health data is never used for anything except showing it back to you, and never for advertising or marketing. It isn't sent to us or anyone else.

So the app opens quickly, it keeps a copy of recent Health figures on your iPhone. That copy is refreshed from Health each time you open the app, is never backed up or synced, and is removed by Erase All App Data.

Widgets and Siri

Exersio's widgets can show today's training, readiness, race countdown, weight progress and water. The water widgets can save a drink to Apple Health when you tap them, using the same permission as the app. Widgets run on your iPhone; nothing they show or save leaves it.

You can ask Siri to start a workout, log your weight or water, or read today's training. These run on your iPhone; Apple's privacy policy covers how Siri handles your voice.

Data you create in the app

These are stored only in the app on your iPhone. They aren't synced to iCloud and they're never sent to us:

  • training plans (including your answers about what you do now in each sport), sessions, time off and earlier versions of a plan;
  • workouts you've saved and favourites;
  • gym routines and the sets, reps and weights you log;
  • notes, targets and water vessels (such as "Bottle = 600 ml");
  • running shoes and which runs you wore them for;
  • routes you draw on the map to follow later;
  • your answers about your training — how often you run, and any 5K time, swim pace or riding speed you enter — used to set your training paces;
  • body measurements and progress photos;
  • how you log each day: which days you've logged, any figures you left out of a day, the meals you ticked, whether each figure counts automatically or when you log it, and when you dismissed the catch-up reminder.

Your name

If you give one, it's kept on your iPhone only, to show your initials in the app.

Apple Watch

Your iPhone sends your upcoming sessions, workout library and favourites, race set-up (distance, goal time and pacing), routes you've drawn, your gym routines with last time's weights and reps, and settings directly to your paired Apple Watch. The Watch sends back the workouts you record there, which are also saved to Apple Health, and any gym sets you log on it. While you record, the Watch keeps your route in its memory to draw the map; it's saved only with the workout in Health.

Location

Used only while you record an outdoor run, ride or swim, on your iPhone or Apple Watch, to map your route and measure distance. Routes are saved with the workout in Apple Health. Location isn't used at any other time.

Maps and routes

When you draw a route, the map comes from Apple Maps. If you turn on "Follow Paths and Roads", the points you tap are sent to Apple to work out the path between them, under Apple's privacy policy — not linked to your name or account by us. The finished route is saved only in the app on your iPhone and sent to your Watch.

Camera

Used only when you take a progress photo. Photos stay in the app on your iPhone.

Calendar

Only if you turn it on: your planned sessions are added to a calendar called "Exersio", which syncs like any other calendar in your account. The app never reads or changes your other events. Turning it off deletes that calendar.

Notifications

Only on your device, and only for: reminders you turn on, a reminder when a pair of running shoes nears its replacement mileage, and a reminder the day before a free trial ends.

Backups

If you tap Back Up App Data (your profile › Your Data), the app makes one file of the data it stores — plans, workouts, gym sets, notes, targets, measurements, photos, shoes, routes, water vessels, your training answers, which days you've logged and settings — and you choose where to save it. It's never sent anywhere else. Health data isn't in the backup; it stays in Apple Health.

Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We don't see your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether you have Pro.

What we don't do

  • No analytics, crash reporting or advertising code.
  • No selling or sharing of your data, and no use of it for advertising or marketing.
  • No account, sign-in or server.

Exporting and deleting

You can export your data as CSV, PDF or plan files from your profile › Your Data, or a single workout as a GPX or TCX file from its page (Export Workout), and choose where to send them. To delete everything the app stores itself, go to your profile › Privacy & About › Erase All App Data, or delete the app. Health data is managed in the Health app.

This website

Everything above is about the app. This website is separate, and collects a little more, only when you choose to give it.

Emails you give us

If you join the launch list or send a message through the Support page, we receive what you type: your email address, and your name, topic and message if you send one. We use these only to tell you when Exersio launches and to reply to you. Our lawful basis is your consent; you can withdraw it at any time by replying "unsubscribe" or emailing us, and we'll delete your details.

Form submissions are stored by our website host, Netlify, Inc., on our behalf. Netlify may store data outside the UK, under its data processing agreement and the UK's international transfer safeguards. We keep launch-list emails until shortly after launch, and support messages for as long as needed to help you, then delete them.

The plan builder

Plans are built entirely in your browser. Your answers, including any first name you give, are never sent to us or saved, and are gone when you leave the page.

If you tap Share This Plan, or share a calculator result, your answers are put into the link itself so it can rebuild the same plan or result. Your name is never included. The link only goes where you send it.

Visitor statistics

We may count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, and count button clicks (such as "Get the App" or "Plan built") with Plausible or GoatCounter. All of these use no cookies, and don't identify you or follow you across sites. A click count records only which button, on which page (and, for a built plan, its type, such as "half marathon") — never your name or anything else you typed. Like any website, our host keeps short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) for security.

Cookies and storage

This website sets no cookies. It saves one small setting in your browser, only for you: whether you closed the "Get the App" bar on your phone, until you close the tab. Light and dark follow your device's own setting.

Not medical advice

Exersio is a training guide, not a medical device. Its plans, readiness score and warnings are general guidance. Check with a doctor before big changes to diet or exercise.

Children

The app isn't aimed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights over your personal data. For the app, because we don't collect or hold any of it, the controls above (export, erase, Health permissions) are how you exercise them. For anything you've given this website, you can ask to see, correct or delete it. Contact hello@threelinepress.co.uk with any questions. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
